Job Title: Senior Clinical Research Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic leader to join our team at the Great Western Hospital. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Research Nurse to lead our Emergency Department team.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Support the Matron and team in providing effective nursing leadership and ensuring the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) code of conduct is at the forefront of the team's nursing care.
  • Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to provide a high standard of individualized patient care and improve the patient experience.
  • Take charge of the Emergency Department and lead the team in providing care to patients, their families, and carers.
  • Promote the development, implementation, and review of standards, policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
  • Assist in leading and motivating staff in the provision of care and future service development.
  • Promote evidence-based clinical practice in performance improvement within the unit.
  • Be a responsible lead for a specific aspect of care or area of the Emergency Department to support, promote, and develop high standards of care.
  • Act as a resource in nursing practice throughout the specialties.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of multi-disciplinary integrated care pathways for patients.
Person Specification:
  • NMC 1st Level registration qualification
  • Specialist A&E Course or completed level 2 NCF competencies for emergency nursing
  • Clinical skills required for emergency nursing
  • Evidence of post-registration development
  • Evidence of continuing professional development - Mentorship training
Experience:
  • Experience of working in an emergency care setting
  • Ability to delegate effectively
  • Demonstrates leadership of a team
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates sound understanding of personal accountability
  • Time management and prioritisation skills
  • Shows initiative, able to think positively and stimulate a productive team climate
  • Works well under pressure
Knowledge:
  • Up-to-date understanding of current safeguarding of both children and adults, including mental capacity awareness
  • Aware of local and national priorities for Emergency Care
  • Understanding role of other healthcare professionals both internal and external to the Emergency Department Team
  • Ability and skills for onward referral to other services
  • Communication skills that can be amended to any given situation, both with patients, relatives, and colleagues
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain leadership within the department
  • Appropriate escalation of issues to senior management
