Overview of Role:

As a Tax Director, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of UK corporate tax advisory, compliance, and reporting projects. You will work closely with senior members of the UK tax team and have direct interaction with clients to deliver high-quality services. Your expertise will be utilized in various tax areas, including tax advisory, compliance, and governance.

Tax Advisory:

You will be involved in tax advisory work, including ad hoc corporate tax advisory projects, cash tax modeling exercises, tax due diligence, and tax structuring. A significant proportion of your time will be spent on private equity-backed clients, requiring advanced knowledge of the tax implications of this ownership model and the investment lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Immediate post-acquisition tax actions, including preparation of tax checklists, implementation of structural actions, remediation of key tax DD items, withholding tax management, and coverage of non-corporate tax items such as VAT on transaction costs.
  • Tax compliance related advisory, including interest deductibility, anti-hybrids, transaction costs.
  • Exit support, including vendor assist roles, tax DD support and negotiation, exit structuring, and transaction balance sheet management.

UK Corporation Tax Compliance, Reporting, and Governance:

You will oversee the preparation and submission of UK corporation tax returns for our clients. In collaboration with the UK Tax Partner, you will assist in designing and implementing a UK corporation tax compliance service offering that is high quality, efficient, and cost-effective for our clients.

Business Development:

As a Tax Director, you will be expected to undertake business development activities to grow the UK tax practice and the CFGI brand in the UK. This will include assisting with the origination of tax opportunities, drafting proposals, and involvement in sales processes.

Requirements:

  • Seven plus years of corporate tax experience, ideally with some/all time spent in the Big 4.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA) required; additional tax qualification (e.g., CTA) desirable.
  • Significant experience of scoping, leading, and managing UK tax advisory projects.
  • Excellent technical understanding of UK tax return preparation processes, common tax adjusting items, and IFRS/UK GAAP.
  • Ability to respond to and manage HMRC tax enquiries.

Salary: £120,000 - £150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
