Electronics Engineer Job Description

Holt Executive has partnered with a leading design and manufacturing company that operates in various industry sectors, including Naval Defence, Maritime, and Marine Science and Technology.

We are seeking an experienced Electronics Engineer to lead the design and development of electronics for instrumentation and acoustics applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with the Director of Engineering to coordinate Electronics Engineering projects and tasks.
  2. Guide team members to ensure project deadlines are met and budgets are adhered to.
  3. Mentor and develop the skills of the Engineering team.
  4. Participate in risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  5. Develop and enforce technical standards and best practices in software design and development.
Key Skills and Experience:
  1. Expertise in analogue and digital circuit design, ideally within an instrumentation development environment.
  2. Experience with mixed-signal design, including pre-amplifiers, filters, power supplies, interfacing, and analogue-to-digital conversion for precision instrumentation applications.
  3. Essential experience or knowledge in microcontroller-based circuit design and embedded software.
  4. Ability to work independently or as part of a team, contributing to all stages of the product development cycle, from requirement analysis to design, development, and production.
  5. IPC certification is preferred (training can be provided).
  6. Proficiency in OrCAD design software or similar tools.
Desirable Skills:
  1. Basic Analog components/circuits
  2. Operational Amplifier circuits
  3. Power supply technology
  4. Circuit analysis, modelling, and theory
  5. Analog-Digital Conversion
  6. Interfacing and IO (e.g. I2C and SPI bus)
  7. CAD Schematic layout
  8. CAD PCB design
  9. Fault finding
  10. Assembler and/or embedded C
  11. Use of PAL/FPGA technologies.
  12. Linux and other OS
Security Clearance Requirements:

Security clearance will be applied for on appointment. UK passport holders require proof of residency in the UK for the last 5 years.
