The Opportunity:

HKA offers an exciting opportunity for a quantity surveyor looking to transition into a dispute resolution consultancy environment. The ideal candidate will be currently working with a major contractor on substantial UK projects and live contracts or those already working within a dispute consultancy. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on iconic projects and complex cases, driving your career growth and professional development.

Job Description:

  • Analyze construction accounts, costs, values, and payments to identify errors or opportunities
  • Undergo training to undertake technical analyses using appropriate methodologies and prepare reports on findings that can be incorporated within expert reports used in arbitrations and adjudications
  • Draft sections of quantum expert reports under the supervision of senior team members
  • Review documents on varied project types in a broad range of industries, such as infrastructure, oil & gas, and residential
  • Support the project team and Expert
  • Draft notes and external communications to assist with the overall project scope and individual work streams
  • Participate in client meetings
  • Regularly attend marketing events – client events, seminars, and lectures to build relationships in the field

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years' experience working in a relevant Quantity Surveying or cost controls capacity for a reputable contractor
  • Experience of overseeing and managing the commercial administration of various construction contracts, ideally with input and exposure to assessing claims for legitimacy and quantum, and having some exposure to the resolution of disputes
  • Ability to manage, administer, and understand key forms of contract
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, including experience drafting reports, letters, or briefing documents for management or stakeholders relating to construction claims or cost-related matters
  • Strong skills using relevant software tools
  • Potential ability to communicate highly technical material to non-technical audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills, creative problem-solving skills, and ability to work as part of a team
  • Previous experience of undertaking claims assessments, undertaking dispute discussions, handling risk identification and mitigation matters, and able to begin to undertake contract reviews (not essential)

Salary: We offer a competitive salary ranging from £60,000 to £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
