Job Summary:

This role is ideal for a recent graduate with a degree in a chemistry or engineering discipline, or a professional with 2-3 years of experience in polymer processing. The position is primarily lab-based, supporting the work of bioplastics applications development activities to deliver new products and develop technical information for product literature, marketing activities, and customer support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and characterize test samples from raw materials via injection moulding or extrusion.
  • Generate and report data from analytical equipment such as FTIR, DSC, Tensile, Rheometer, DMA.
  • Participate in material preparation and design for the next generation of plastic/bioplastic.
  • Perform everyday work and maintenance of the plastic lab and equipment.
  • Follow health and safety rules and maintain good lab practice.

Requirements:

  • Basic understanding of polymer/plastic processing.
  • Experience in laboratory scale work or processing environment.
  • Experience in operating extrusion and/or injection moulding is preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge in polymer degradation/biodegradation is a bonus.
  • Good organization, prioritization, and task management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and a can-do attitude.
  • Creative and collaborative mind-set with an open-minded attitude.
  • Report writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and be comfortable using a wide range of IT systems.
