Job Title: Employment Lawyer Partner

Location: Manchester, England, United Kingdom (hybrid or office-based)

Job Type: Full-time

Watershed is a third-generation, Solicitors Regulation Authority regulated, family-owned and managed employment law firm. We work with organisations in a range of sectors, from large household names to small and medium-sized entities.

We provide a supportive working environment in a small, close-knit team. You will have the opportunity to advise on various and interesting pieces of work, as well as contributing to the development and growth of our business. Our informal, hybrid approach and UK-based clients mean we would consider applications from most UK locations, subject to reasonable attendance at the Manchester office as required.

Responsibilities:

  1. Advising commercial clients on both routine and complex matters covering all aspects of employment law.
  2. Representing clients in the employment and employment appeal tribunals.
  3. Advising on managing and contributing to larger scale projects such as changing terms and conditions, collective redundancies, collective bargaining, and Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) (TUPE).
  4. Undertaking investigations.
  5. Chairing hearings.
  6. Delivering training on employment law and managing people.

Watershed is part of the Collinson Grant group, a leading management consultancy with experience spanning more than 50 years. This provides opportunities to support assignments that you would not gain exposure to in a traditional law firm.

Requirements:

  • Excellent technical competence in employment law, with a track record of working with large private sector businesses.
  • Eight or more years' PQE in a fees-based professional firm.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of modern working practices, while understanding the day-to-day pressures busy managers experience.
  • A personable and professional demeanour, with the ability and drive to develop new business in a competitive industry.
  • Capability to build and maintain relationships with demanding clients.
  • Confident communication skills, with the experience needed to present and provide a range of services and products that match client needs.
  • The gravitas required to credibly advise senior stakeholders within large organisations.
  • Commercial astuteness, with an unqualified desire to build long-term relationships.
