About the Role

The Development Engineer will be a key contributor to our design and production team, responsible for creating and advancing piezoelectric transducers, sensors, and systems for demanding applications across industries such as aerospace, automotive, nuclear, manufacturing, process control, and oil & gas.

  • Lead and contribute to projects focused on developing sensor and system products across multiple market sectors.
  • Design technical drawings for mechanical components and assemblies using 2D and 3D design tools.
  • Assemble, test, and characterize sensor assemblies through a range of acoustic, electrical, and mechanical methods.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to address product and project requirements.
  • Support the design and prototyping of novel sensors based on specifications, including the preparation of risk registers, timelines, and bills of materials.
  • Provide technical guidance to support business development, collaborating with sales and technical teams to achieve commercial objectives.
  • Present progress and findings from development activities to technical and commercial stakeholders.
Requirements

We are looking for an individual with a degree in Science or Engineering plus a minimum of 2 years of industrial experience, or an HNC/HND with at least 2 years of experience, or at least 3 years in research, design, product development, or manufacturing.

  • Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), ideally using SolidWorks.
  • A hands-on, analytical approach to development, with strong documentation and reporting abilities.
  • Familiarity with modern machining, fabrication, and assembly processes for mechanical and electro-mechanical products.
  • Understanding of engineering compliance and risk management principles.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English for technical documentation and presentations.
  • Experience working within a quality management system, including documentation control and configuration management.
  • Ability to work independently to meet project deadlines within a small, dynamic team.
