We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Eden Scott.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer looking to take on a more autonomous role, with the chance to become technical lead on a variety of challenging design and manufacturing projects for the Oil & Gas sector.

Our client is a growing Scottish Engineering SME with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, bespoke equipment. They have an extensive design and manufacturing capability, with a collaborative and pragmatic working culture.

The role involves working as the Lead Engineer and client technical point of contact on new designs and builds for use in offshore oil and gas environments. Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating engineering calculation packages to validate designs using hand calculations and FEA software
  • Liaising with vendors to select components and validate selection with calculations
  • Generating 3D concept designs based on client specifications
  • Reviewing and approving fabrication, manufacture, and assembly drawings
  • Leading design reviews with internal and external parties
  • Generating test procedures and operation manuals for equipment
  • Mentoring junior team members

Requirements include a degree in Mechanical Engineering, minimum 5 years of experience in a design role, and experience in designing fabricated structures for offshore/subsea environments to DNV standards. Proficiency in modelling software such as Solidworks and AutoCAD, as well as FEA software for stress analysis, is also required.
