Job Title: Mathematics Instructor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mathematics Instructor to join our team at Acorn Training. As a Mathematics Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning sessions, workshops, and tutorials in Functional Skills maths to adult learners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and interactive maths sessions, utilising a variety of teaching techniques and materials to enhance learners' understanding and engagement with the subject.
  • Assess learners' maths abilities and identify areas for improvement, tailoring teaching and learning methods and resources accordingly.
  • Provide individualised support to learners, addressing their specific learning needs and challenges through one-on-one meetings and additional learning resources.
  • Rigorously monitor and track learners' progress, providing regular feedback and implementing strategies to address areas of weakness or underperformance.
  • Set and mark assignments, tests, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to learners to support their learning and improvement.
  • Collaborate with other team members to share best practices, contribute to curriculum development, and participate in team meetings and training sessions.
  • Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, actively promoting learner participation, motivation, and confidence in maths.
  • Communicate regularly with learners, employers, and relevant stakeholders to provide updates on progress, address concerns, and foster effective partnerships in support of learner success.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of A-level or equivalent maths qualification.
  • Qualified teacher, e.g., Cert Ed, PGCE, DTLLS, or a commitment to obtain.
  • Minimum of GCSE Grade C/4 in English and maths.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
  • Level 5 Numeracy Specialist qualification (desirable).
  • Level 2 IT user qualification (desirable).
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in teaching or tutoring mathematics, preferably at GCSE and/or Functional Skills level.
  • Experience working with adult learners from diverse backgrounds and with varying abilities.
  • Experience of developing stimulating and engaging maths programmes.
  • Experience of using data analysis to inform teaching and improve learner outcomes.
