About the Role

Main Responsibilities
  • Project Delivery: Deliver designs within the provided program and budget.
  • Resource Management: Manage resource allocation to ensure team efficiency.
  • Financial Management: Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and financial accountability.
  • Client Management: Act as the primary contact for clients, stakeholders, and project partners.
  • Stakeholder Management: Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Design Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with MCHW, DMRB, local design guidance, and statutory requirements.
  • Design Review: Review and authorize design information and reports, providing constructive feedback.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with Senior Management Team on projects across various offices and disciplines.
  • Innovation: Foster innovation and continuous improvement within the team, demonstrating sound independent judgment.
  • Health and Safety: Comply with Health & Safety legislation, particularly CDM Regulations, and adopt proactive risk management strategies.
Essential Requirements
  • Leadership Skills: Proactive management skills with confidence in leading teams through diverse workloads.
  • Resource Allocation: Excellent resource management skills to allocate effective staff for projects.
  • Technical Skills: Strong technical skills and experience in various highway design environments.
  • Project Management: Proven project management skills for highway projects, ensuring delivery to program and budget.
  • Independent Judgment: Display sound independent judgment.
  • Staff Development: Experience in developing, mentoring, and supervising Highway Design staff.
  • Highway Knowledge: Robust knowledge of Highways Technical documents within DMRB.
  • Contract Management: Experience managing the development of contract documents per relevant Highway contracts.
  • Technical Advice: Ability to advise key clients on technical issues in the highway structures sector at a senior level.
  • CAD Skills: Working knowledge of Civils 3D CAD package.
  • Drainage Design: Experience in highway drainage design and use of MicroDrainage software.
