Manufacturing Engineer

Institute of the Motor Industry. limited is currently seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team.
The Role: As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining robust, cost-efficient manufacturing processes and product structures consistent with lean manufacturing practices. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement and implement process changes to enhance productivity and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain manufacturing processes and product structures to meet lean manufacturing standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement and implement process changes.
- Conduct root cause and failure analysis to identify and resolve manufacturing issues.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and quality.
- Provide technical support and guidance to production teams to ensure manufacturing processes are running efficiently.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in lean manufacturing and Six Sigma.
Requirements:
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as engineering or manufacturing.
- Detailed knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques, including value stream mapping and one piece flow.
- Understanding of Six Sigma concepts and tools, including regression analysis and design of experiments.
- Thorough understanding of problem-solving methodologies, including root cause analysis and process failure mode effect analysis.
- Proficiency in various software applications, including Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing.
- Knowledge of manufacturing principles and technical specifications to support facilities competencies.
- Ability to lead cross-functional process improvement teams.
Desirable:
- Detailed knowledge of engineering design and product reliability concepts to facilitate analysis of fluid dynamics and thermal dynamics.
- Understanding of ProLaunch and industry-specific quality processes such as ISO9001 and AS9100.
- Knowledge of product and end-user application specifications, including product testing requirements.
- Degree in Six Sigma or a related subject.
