Pontem Education & Training invites applications for the role of Secondary School Teaching Assistant.

About the Role

As a dedicated member of our team, you will play a vital part in supporting teachers and students across various subjects and activities. Your responsibility will include assisting in classrooms, providing one-on-one support for students with additional needs, and contributing to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lesson Support: Assist subject teachers in delivering engaging lessons and providing support to students individually or in small groups as required.
  • SEN Support: Support students with special educational needs (SEN) or disabilities, implementing strategies outlined in their Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and ensuring their inclusion in classroom activities.
  • Classroom Management: Help to create a positive and inclusive learning environment by promoting positive behaviour, encouraging participation, and fostering positive relationships among students.
  • Resource Preparation: Assist with the preparation and organization of educational resources, materials, and equipment to enhance learning opportunities.
  • Pastoral Support: Provide pastoral support to students, offering guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear when needed.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Experience working with young people, preferably in an educational setting (though training can be provided for the right candidate).
  • Compassion and Patience: A compassionate and patient approach to working with students, with a genuine desire to support their academic and personal development.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Flexibility: Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to take on a variety of tasks to support the needs of the school and its students.
  • Safeguarding: A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
