Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team at a specialist SEMH school in Wakefield. The successful candidate will have previous experience working with children and young people who have complex additional needs within a specialist setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with complex and challenging behavioural needs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students to help them overcome barriers to learning
  • Assist with lesson planning and delivery, including adapting materials to meet the needs of students with complex needs
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
  • Experience working with children and young people with complex additional needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team
  • Compassionate and caring approach to supporting students
