About the Role

As a Senior Nuclear Modelling Expert, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and modifying models to conduct research projects related to radiation transport modelling or activation calculations
  • Nuclear analysis of models to inform the design and safety of future power plants
  • Working closely with other teams and groups to build networks and ensure effective collaboration
  • Identifying areas where improvements could be made to experimental apparatus, process plant systems, and operational practices and methodologies
  • Liaising with other teams and groups to promote respect, inclusion, and opportunity across UKAEA
About the Team

You will be based in the Applied Radiation Technology group, which is one of several groups within the Fusion Technology Division. The team is responsible for developing and qualifying fusion device equipment for service in commercial power plants.

As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects and collaborate with experts in the field of fusion energy.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent level in a relevant STEM discipline; within the past 2 years
  • Demonstrable ability to question existing scientific models and express this clearly through high-quality written reports
  • IT literate, fluent in Microsoft Office, including Excel & Access, SharePoint
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good planning, organising and time management skills
  • Discreet & professional approach to technical or scientific activities
  • Manage own development towards building knowledge & skills
