We are seeking a skilled interpreter to work with us at Language Empire, providing professional interpreting and translation services to the public and private sectors across the UK.

As a freelance interpreter, you will have the opportunity to work in various settings, including the NHS, Local Authorities, Police, Probation, and other public and private organisations.

Our company has been established for over 20 years, offering services in hundreds of languages and dialects across the UK. We are looking for individuals who can speak one or more foreign languages and are interested in a role involving politics, business, healthcare, and public service.

The job involves interpreting for people using legal, health, and local government services. You will be required to listen to, understand, and memorize content in the source language, then reproduce the speech into the target language with 100% accuracy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Interpreting for people using legal, health, and local government services
  • Checking the non-English speakers understanding after each sentence
  • Conference, consecutive, and public service interpreting
  • Dealing with highly confidential information
  • Liaising between the service user and service provider

Requirements include:

  • Fluent in English and another language
  • All applicants must have the right to work in the UK
  • You must be aged 21 or over
  • Formal qualifications such as Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI), Community Interpreting, NRPSI, CIOL, ITI registered, or Degree in Translation/Interpreting/Languages
