Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Garment Technologist to join our menswear team at Manière De Voir's head office in Manchester.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fitting and Sampling: Assist in the preparation and execution of in-house fit sessions, ensuring a balance between speed and quality.
  • Quality Control: Analyze and advise on technical fit issues, communicating accurate comments to suppliers and ensuring samples conform to the original tech pack or previous fit comments.
  • Liaison and Collaboration: Work closely with Senior Garment Techs, Designers, Buyers, and Suppliers to provide technical guidance on new product development and garment construction.
  • Technical Expertise: Advise on fabrications for specific size specs at design and sign-off stages, supporting the development of new silhouettes for product development.
  • Pattern Cutting and Development: Assist with the development of blocks and fits for styles quarterly, in-line with design meetings.
  • Supplier Management: Effectively liaise with suppliers and work alongside their pattern cutting teams to ensure efficient production.
  • Testing and Resolution: Assist with relevant testing, recording, and resolving any issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Quality Audits: Undertake audits by spot checking products and reporting on findings.
  • Continuous Improvement: Deliver continuous improvement and creative solutions to oversee compliance long-term across Suppliers.
Requirements

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • A technically oriented qualification, preferably at degree level, is required, as is a minimum of 1 year's experience in a similar role in a fast-paced fashion environment.
  • Experience of working directly with factories and a thorough understanding of factory production, including workflow, production control, and equipment, is essential.
  • Comprehensive understanding of menswear, fitting, and fit issues is required.
  • Pattern-cutting knowledge and practice, as well as knowledge of grading and grade rules, are highly desirable.

  • Thorough understanding of garment construction, fabric technology, and testing.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive attitude towards challenges and implement solutions.
  • Strong time-management skills; able to prioritize tasks and be flexible.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Clear, concise communication is a must, both written and verbally.
  • Confident using Outlook and Excel.
