Diagnostic Radiographer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diagnostic Radiographer to join our Radiology team at North Middlesex University Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Undertake all clinical work on rotation through the department under the direction of the lead radiographers, maintaining high clinical standards throughout.
- Act as the lead radiographer in the general X-ray area and on-call, effectively coordinating patient throughput while supervising the radiographic and student team.
- Decrease each patient's radiation dose during examinations by using collimation and careful positioning.
- Take responsibility for actions as described in IR(ME)R and IRR99, keeping up to date with national standards and guidelines.
- Observe departmental DRL and DIL, reporting excess doses and radiation incidents to the Royal Free Radiation physics service and via Datix.
- Undertake training to the standard required by the department and accept advice and instruction when necessary.
- Seek advice from a modality lead when confronted by new or unusual situations, particularly when it may be necessary to refuse a patient's examination request.
- Ensure competency sheets are signed off in a timely fashion and competency is maintained in all signed-off areas.
- Perform complex CT scans when working solo or during out-of-hours shifts, including IV cannulation of patients and safely administering iodinated contrast media.

Person Specification- BSc. (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography.
- HCPC registration.
- Ability to perform a wide range of plain film X-rays to a high standard, including adaptive technique.
- Ability to perform a range of non-contrast and contrast-enhanced CT scans.
- Ability to undertake imaging for a range of fluoroscopy/interventional procedures.
- Previous work in the NHS, with the ability to supervise others' work and demonstrate first-line leadership.
- Experience of Cath Lab and Cardiac CT imaging, as well as the use of Soliton RIS, Sectra PACS and CareFlow.
- Able to work well within a team, work without supervision, and take direction from senior colleagues.
- Able to show reflection and subsequent improvement in techniques when involved in incidents.
- Desire to put the patient first.
- Demonstrable ability to meet Trust values.
- Willingness to work flexibly and be friendly, caring, and approachable to patients and staff.
