About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Cardiology Pharmacy Lead to join our team at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have a strong background in clinical pharmacy practice and experience in leading and developing advanced specialist clinical pharmacy services.

Job Description

The Clinical Cardiology Pharmacy Lead will be responsible for delivering specialist pharmaceutical care in cardiology, including non-medical prescribing where applicable, to a defined caseload of patients. This will involve undertaking risk management and ensuring compliance with local and national clinical guidance.

The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge and understanding of relevant standards and guidelines, as well as knowledge of legislation/guidance relating to medicines usage and prescribing. They will also have experience of influencing members of the multidisciplinary team in delivering patient care and managing and delivering projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver specialist pharmaceutical care in cardiology, including non-medical prescribing where applicable, to a defined caseload of patients
  2. Support the Clinical Service Line and Pharmacy department in meeting its risk management, financial management, and clinical governance responsibilities around the use of medicines
  3. Lead and develop clinical pharmacy audit and practice research within the field of cardiology
  4. Take an active part in projects to support patient safety
  5. Undertake clinical supervision of junior pharmacists, medicines management pharmacy technicians, and pre-registration pharmacists
Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess:

  • Bachelor/Master of Pharmacy degree
  • GPhC pharmacist registration
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent
  • Relevant senior experience
