We are seeking a part-time Neonatal Occupational Therapist to cover maternity leave within our team. This is a fixed-term contract opportunity that will allow you to work with high-risk neonates and provide advanced occupational therapy services.

About the Role

This role will involve working with the Neonatal unit and other community AHPs to establish programs of support and facilitate the delivery of interventions. You will be responsible for providing individual child-focused assessments and interventions, as well as selecting and administering standardized and non-standardized assessments to provide diagnostic and predictive information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced individual child-focused assessments and interventions
  • Work with the Neonatal unit and other community AHPs to establish programs of support
  • Select and administer standardized and non-standardized assessments
  • Provide diagnostic and predictive information
  • Collate statistical and activity data relating to the caseload of the clinician
Person Specification

We are looking for a highly effective communicator with children and families, who has excellent written and verbal communication skills. You should be able to organize and respond effectively to complex information and have excellent planning and organizational skills to manage your caseload and leadership responsibilities.

Essential Qualifications and Training:

  • Diploma or degree in occupational therapy
  • Post-registration training in specialist field of paediatrics including Neonatal Care

Desirable Qualifications and Training:

  • Neonatal training, for example: NBO, General movements, HINE, Sensory baby, Sensory beginnings, FINE
  • MAES
  • Sensory Integration-level 2 - 4

Experience:

  • Substantial experience as an Occupational Therapist in children and young people's services
  • Significant experience working in an NHS environment
  • Working in Neonatal unit and with pre-term babies
  • Client-centred practice within a multidisciplinary environment

Personal Qualities:

  • Highly effective communicator with children and families
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
