Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and produce detailed 2D and 3D manufacturing drawings and documentation for steel fabrication projects, ensuring all details are clearly specified for production teams.
  • Utilize CAD software to design structural steel components, assemblies, and layouts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
  • Review and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and design briefs to ensure all manufacturing drawings align with project objectives.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and production teams to identify and resolve any design or drafting issues promptly.
  • Perform quality checks on drawings, ensuring dimensional accuracy, clarity, and completeness before submission to production.
  • Maintain and organize CAD files, ensuring that all revisions and updates are documented and communicated effectively to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the production team during the manufacturing process, addressing any queries or issues related to the drawings.
  • Continuously improve design standards, drawing practices, and processes to enhance productivity and quality.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a CAD Draughtsperson in the steel fabrication industry.
  • Demonstrable experience in producing high-quality manufacturing drawings for structural steelwork, including beams, columns, connections, and other components.
  • Proficiency in using CAD software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) for 2D drafting and detailing.
  • Strong knowledge of steel fabrication processes, including welding, cutting, forming, and assembly.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations, such as BS EN 1090 and Eurocode 3.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a strong commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Ability to interpret and work from engineering and architectural drawings with a clear understanding of tolerances and material properties.
