Primary Education Placement Tutor

The University of the Highlands and Islands is seeking highly qualified educators to join our team as PGDE Placement Tutors in primary and secondary education. These positions are based at our Thurso and Fort William/Portree campus.

As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching programs and contributing to the development and efficient operation of the department. Your duties will include:

• Teaching and Learning: Design and deliver engaging lesson plans, ensuring students meet academic targets.
• Assessment and Evaluation: Develop and implement assessment strategies to measure student progress and understanding.
• Guidance and Support: Provide individualized support to students, addressing their needs and concerns.
• Planning and Preparation: Create and maintain educational resources, adapting to changing curriculum requirements.

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

1. A relevant degree from a higher education institution in the UK or equivalent international qualification.
2. Prior experience in teaching, with a strong track record of academic achievement.
3. Demonstrated proficiency in Information and Communications Technology (ICT), including Intermediate Level 2.
4. National Qualifications in English, Mathematics, and Numeracy, or suitable evidence of attainment.
5. A current registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) for primary education.
