Job Summary

RSK Ireland is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Ecologist Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our ecology team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality ecological services to our clients across Ireland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage small projects and assist senior colleagues in managing larger projects.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with our ecology team to ensure quality projects are delivered on time.
  • Conduct fieldwork, including out-of-hours surveys, and travel as required.
  • Develop and maintain a good working knowledge of ecology, legislation, and survey techniques.
  • Coordinate and undertake fieldwork for ecological impact assessments and protected species surveys.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration within the ecology team.
  • Act with professional integrity and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Manage your time proactively and ensure work is delivered on time and to the required standards.
  • Collate and analyze data, including preparing protected species license applications.
  • Conduct project-specific research and stay up-to-date with industry guidelines and emerging science.
  • Write high-quality data analysis and technical reports.

Person Specification

  • A degree in a relevant discipline or vocation qualification.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience or proven experience in a similar role.
  • A full UK/Irish driving license with access to your own vehicle.
  • Abide by CIEEM's Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Membership of or working towards membership of CIEEM – level commensurate with experience.
  • Ability to work well within a team and independently.

Desirable Skills

  • Excellent writing skills and ability to produce accurate technical reports.
  • Experience as an Ecological Clerk of Works.
  • Experience of developing ecological/biodiversity enhancement plans.
  • Personal species-specific licenses (i.e. bats, newts and/or badger).
  • Enthusiasm, energy, and drive to develop skills.
