Paediatric Occupational Therapist Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join our team at Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work with children and their families to provide tailored occupational therapy services that promote independence, participation, and well-being.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Paediatric Occupational Therapist to work with children aged 0- school leaving age, presenting with various physical, learning, social/emotional, and behavioural difficulties. You will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, treating, and advising children on their caseload, as well as providing advice to families and other professionals within a multi-agency framework.

The successful candidate will have experience in working with children with disabilities and a strong understanding of child development principles. They will be able to communicate effectively with children, young people, and their carers, adapting their communication style to meet individual needs.

You will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, and community nurses, to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to patient care. The ideal candidate will have excellent clinical skills, a strong knowledge of paediatric conditions, and the ability to modify treatment plans accordingly.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess, diagnose, treat, and advise children on their caseload
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and evidence-based practice
  • Provide advice to families and other professionals within a multi-agency framework
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care
  • Contribute to the planned admissions to hospital and facilitate a child's return to school following discharge
Person Specification:

We are looking for a Paediatric Occupational Therapist who possesses the following qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • HCPC Registration
  • Experience of working with children with disabilities
  • Strong understanding of child development principles
  • Excellent clinical skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, young people, and their carers
