About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Scientist to join our Cell Type Development team at Babraham Research Campus Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in the generation of new cell types from pluripotent stem cells.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Cell Type Development: Drive the development and execution of experiments to generate cell types of interest from human pluripotent stem cells, using cellular programming approaches.
  2. Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze and interpret data from cellular programming experiments, reporting of data, and experimental troubleshooting as required.
  3. Team Support: Support the design, development, and implementation of the Cell Type Development team, including assay design, LIMS/samples tracking, resource management, SOP writing, and process development.
  4. Documentation and Reporting: Contribute towards the completion of documentation and reports required during the Cell Type Development process and its milestone stage-gates.
  5. Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with the Team Leader to support the cell line development and delivery of experimental data and project updates to a wide variety of stakeholders.
  6. Lab Management: Monitor key areas of day-to-day laboratory activities, ensuring the smooth running of the team's activities and identifying opportunities to improve or areas of risk.
Requirements
  1. Qualifications: PhD qualified in a relevant area of Biological Sciences, or MSc qualified in a relevant area of Biological Sciences with proven experience in academia and/or industry and a passion for problem solving.
  2. Background and Experience: A strong background and experience in stem cell biology, cellular differentiation, and cellular programming.
  3. Skills and Abilities: Strong practical and theoretical background in hESC or hiPSC culture and/or differentiation/programming approaches and/or functional cell type expertise, experiment planning, execution, and critical interpretation of generated data, and project delivery.
  4. Experience and Understanding: Well-rounded practical experience in molecular assays, molecular biology, and their downstream analysis (qRT-PCR, ELISA, ICC, Flow, bulk and/or single cell RNA sequencing), experience and understanding of introducing novel workflows/processes and the development of screens for cellular differentiation, experience with training people and leading multiple projects.
