We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Adult Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at Devon Partnership NHS Trust.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing high-quality mental health services to adults in the community.

As an Adult Mental Health Practitioner, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive mental health services, managing a defined caseload, and providing expert assessment and treatment for individuals with complex mental health difficulties.

You will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including staff, service users, their carers, and other statutory and voluntary sector agencies, to ensure the provision of consistent, well-coordinated care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the team's engagement with stakeholders, including staff, service users, and their carers.
  • Impart complex and sensitive information to patients and families/carers regarding assessment, care planning, treatment, and review.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the provision of consistent, well-coordinated care.
  • Liaise with primary care teams regarding client care.
  • Engage with external agencies involved in the provision of care.
  • Facilitate service user/carer groups.
  • Contribute to the safe and effective day-to-day operations of the service, including handling clinical inquiries.
  • Provide and receive information, some of which may be contentious, sensitive, and highly complex, to and from individuals and their families/carers.
  • Participate in and chair clinical meetings, including CPA and non-CPA reviews, professional meetings, and clinical risk meetings.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate in a way that is empathic and reassuring while employing negotiating techniques to gain cooperation from highly complex individuals.
  • Undertake complex risk assessments and develop a formulation of risk leading to the development of risk management plans.
  • Ensure that interventions are planned in an integrated and co-ordinated manner, particularly where dependent on other external agencies.
  • Deliver services using a recovery and strengths-based approach where the needs of the individual and their carers are held as central and their involvement is proactively encouraged.
  • Ensure that assessment and treatment plans are holistic, outcome-focused, and take into account the physical health and social needs of the individual.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of all clinical activity in line with professional guidance and best practices.
  • Practice in a way that actively minimizes dependency and promotes recovery.
  • Participate in programmes of audit and research within the team as agreed by the Directorate and implement the findings.
Person Specification

We are looking for a qualified and experienced mental health professional who possesses the following skills and qualifications:

  • A professional mental health qualification and registration (e.g., RMN, BSc/Diploma in OT, SROT, Social Work Degree or equivalent, Community Nursing Degree).
  • Non-Medical Prescriber and/or another recognized therapy qualification.
  • Postgraduate qualification relevant to the specialism.
  • Training to level 3 in Safeguarding Adults and Children and Young People: roles and competencies for Health Care staff.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary and a range of benefits, including:

  • A supportive and dynamic work environment.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression.
  • A comprehensive induction programme.
  • Access to a range of training and development opportunities.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all qualified candidates.
