We are seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our client's civil engineering team. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing commercial aspects of projects, ensuring they are delivered efficiently and within contractual terms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review tender documents to identify requirements and potential risks.
- Develop detailed schedules of works or Bills of Quantities.
- Conduct site visits, reviewing findings with the Contracts Manager, and reflecting this in tender pricing.
- Manage procurement of sub-contract packages, labour-only packages, and suppliers.
- Prepare labour, plant, and material budgets.
- Issue early warnings and manage compensation events under NEC contracts.
- Produce forecast cost reports, comparing actual against planned costs.
- Prepare and submit monthly valuations and invoices, including reviewing sub-contractor accounts and on-site measures.
- Manage contract variations and ensure accurate revenue recovery through adequate record-keeping.
- Finalise accounts with sub-contractors and prepare sub-contract documents.
Requirements:
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working with NEC contracts in the civil engineering sector.
- Proven experience issuing early warnings, handling compensation events, and completing monthly valuations.
- Proficient in reviewing subcontractor accounts and overseeing site costs and measures.
- Excellent communication skills and strong commercial acumen.
- Competent in MS Office.
- A valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
