Senior Database DevOps Engineer

Barclays Bank is seeking a highly skilled Senior Database DevOps Engineer to lead our database engineering teams and drive technical excellence. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for spearheading the evolution of our digital landscape, driving innovation, and excellence.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge database solutions. As a Senior Database DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading engineering teams to achieve project goals and meet organizational objectives
  • Overseeing timelines, team allocation, risk management, and task prioritization to ensure successful delivery of solutions
  • Mentoring and supporting team members' professional growth, conducting performance reviews, and providing actionable feedback
  • Evaluation and enhancement of engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency and optimize team productivity
  • Collaborating with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Database DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Advise key stakeholders on functional and cross-functional areas of impact and alignment
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does
  • Collaborate with other areas of work to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies
  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought, comparing and selecting complex alternatives
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience as a Principal Level Database Administrator, with a focus on PostgreSQL and similar database technologies
  • Experience with DevOps automation tools, such as Code versioning (git), JIRA, Ansible, Containers, and Kubernetes (OpenShift)
  • Subject matter expert in PostgreSQL, serving as the highest level of technical escalation for complex database issues
  • Proven record of managing database engineering teams
