Job Opportunity: Consultant Cardiologist

NHS Scotland is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce, promoting equality and eliminating discrimination. We strive to create an environment where every employee feels valued and empowered to excel.

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Cardiologist to join our team at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Victoria ACH. The successful candidate will be part of a well-established consultant cardiologist team, working closely with colleagues to provide exceptional care to patients with a range of cardiology conditions.

To be eligible for this role, applicants must possess MRCP, full GMC registration, and a license to practice. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT in Cardiology or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR) or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Dual accreditation in GIM would be highly desirable. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a full range of consultant services, including inpatient and outpatient care, and will be expected to participate in a new cardiology interface care rota for daytime unscheduled care. They will also be required to undertake vetting of GP referrals and participate in the care of patients with inherited cardiac conditions.

The out-of-hours and weekend on-call commitment will be 1 in 10, covering the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The weekday commitment to CCU will be 1 week in 14, and for the Cardiology wards, 1 week in 11. The successful candidate will also be expected to provide two General Cardiology clinics per week and undertake two imaging sessions per week, focusing on out-patient trans-thoracic echocardiography with the option of performing stress echocardiography or trans-oesophageal echocardiography if appropriately trained.

We encourage applications from all sections of the community and are proud of our diverse workforce. We support applications from across the Armed Forces Community, recognizing military skills, experience, and qualifications during the recruitment and selection process.
