Risk Monitoring Specialist

Marex is a leading global financial services platform that provides essential liquidity, market access, and infrastructure services to clients in the energy, commodities, and financial markets.
This role exists to take ownership of all elements of counterparty risk monitoring across the Marex EMEA client base, ensuring a thorough understanding and reporting of counterparty risk exposures and appropriate limits across the firm.
As the EMEA Counterparty Risk function leader, you will be responsible for supporting and developing analysts, deputizing for the Global Head of Credit when necessary, and producing well-researched recommendations for credit facilities submitted to senior management.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of corporate financial statement analysis, experience in forming well-researched conclusions on credit assessments, and knowledge of credit risk inherent in granting credit facilities to cover margin requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Qualitative and quantitative analysis of current and potential clients and counterparties, including corporates, financial institutions, individuals, CCPs, and state-owned enterprises.
- Continual focus on global macro-economic environments, understanding specific country factors, and their impact on credit risk assessments.
- Leading integration projects for new acquisitions from a counterparty credit perspective.
- Forming well-researched and intellectually credible recommendations for new credit facilities and renewals.
- High levels of interaction with clients on a domestic and international basis.
- Management information reporting on a periodic and ad-hoc basis.
- Acting as an advisor and subject matter expert to guide the business on credit-related items in the EMEA region and beyond.
Company Standard Responsibilities:
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements under any applicable regulator.
- Adhering to the operational risk framework for your role, ensuring compliance with regulatory or company-determined parameters.
- Reporting any breaches of policy to Compliance and/or your supervisor as required.
- Escalating risk events immediately.
- Providing input to risk management processes as required.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of corporate financial statement analysis, gained ideally through an investment banking or institutional brokerage background.
- Track record in forming well-researched conclusions on credit assessments, including internally modelled credit ratings and recovery potential in the event of default.
- Knowledge of credit risk inherent in granting credit facilities to cover the margin requirements of futures and options.
- University graduate or sufficient relevant work experience.
- Good knowledge of MS Office products, Bloomberg is advantageous.
- Additional language skills other than English are desirable.
- Experience working in a regulated environment and knowledge of risk and compliance requirements associated with this.
