We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Second Chef to join our team at Gateway Recovery Centre. As a key member of our catering team, you will be responsible for supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring that high-quality meals are prepared and served to our service users and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Head Chef in maintaining good food storage procedures and stock rotation according to established procedures.
- Assist in the preparation, planning, and cooking of meals to a consistently high standard, taking account of any special requests or dietary requirements.
- Participate in food service, preparing and producing foods for conferences and banquets.
- Adhere to the 'Safer Food Better Business' standards and record keeping.
- Take charge of the department in the Head Chef's absence, ensuring that service requirements are met.
- Be 18 years or older.
- Hold GCSE or equivalent in English.
- Hold City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) Basic Food Preparation Cooking.
- Hold Basic Food Hygiene (essential).
- Hold Intermediate Food Hygiene (desirable).
- Have previous experience in a similar environment.
- Have previous experience in delivering a service on mass.
- Have menu planning, costing, ordering, stock control, and budget experience.
