Teaching Opportunity at Wellington College

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Biology Teacher to join our team at Wellington College, a leading co-educational boarding and day school in rural Berkshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Biology to students across the full age range from year 9 to year 13.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach a standard timetable allocation of 36 lessons per week
  • Enhance the quality of teaching and learning in the Department and wider College through sharing resources and good practice, lesson observation, collaborative teaching, mentoring, and active participation in continuing professional development
  • Play a role in the extra-curricular life of the Department, including contributing to off-timetable workshops, extension programs, pre-university seminars, and competitions
  • Make a positive contribution to the efficient running of the Department, including setting and marking examinations, attending departmental meetings, and undertaking administrative tasks as delegated by the Head of Department
Requirements:
  • Good level degree in Biology or a related subject, or a suitable Post Graduate qualification
  • 3 A-Levels, IB, or equivalent
  • Thorough knowledge of the material covered in the Curriculum of Biology
  • Desirable: Recognised teaching qualification, such as a PGCE, or equivalent experience; teaching experience at A/IB level; awareness of Safeguarding requirements and good practice within a boarding school setting; involvement in extra-curricular activities
