Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Surgical Site Infection Surveillance Nurse to join our team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Infection Prevention and Control team, you will play a crucial role in preventing surgical site infections and improving patient safety.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee the collection and analysis of surgical site infection data for relevant categories.
  • Develop and implement strategies to prevent surgical site infections and improve patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with surgical teams to identify and address areas for improvement.
  • Provide education and training to staff on surgical site infection prevention and control.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and guidelines for surgical site infection prevention and control.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to reduce surgical site infections.
  • Work closely with the Infection Prevention and Control team to ensure effective surveillance and prevention of surgical site infections.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with significant registration experience.
  • ENB 998 or equivalent.
  • Evidence and understanding of clinical audit.
  • Substantial experience within a surgical setting.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of surgical nursing practice.
  • Ability to motivate and influence individuals through facilitating and fostering excellent working relationships with colleagues across the Trust.
