We are seeking a Senior Materials Specialist to join our team at Sizewell C. This role involves working on-site and at our facilities in Avonmouth and other locations as needed for trials. The successful candidate will have expertise in developing nuclear-qualified concrete mixes and managing UKAS-accredited laboratory facilities to ensure compliance with contract specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain safe methods of work for the materials team.
  • Plan and undertake inspections and testing in line with contract requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of work and compliance with UKAS accreditation requirements.
  • Develop concrete mix designs and facilitate material testing to meet client specifications.
  • Produce compliance reports and manage the dispatch of samples to external test laboratories.
  • Train and develop junior staff to ensure a succession plan is in place.
  • Execute trials and ongoing quality testing requirements as per agreed specifications, scopes, or ITPs.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working within a UKAS accredited laboratory.
  • Experience in auditing, training, and development of junior staff.
  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Full UK driving licence.
