Brief Description

We're recruiting for a Project Engineer [Signalling]. As the Project Engineer, you'll manage design and construction activities for the allocated Signalling projects. Your key responsibilities will include implementing Network Rail systems and procedures to maintain a cost-effective, high-quality, safe, and environmentally responsible approach to design, construction, commissioning, and other technical activities on relevant projects, compliant with all relevant legislation.

About the Role

Some of your Key Accountabilities will be to:
  1. Engineer projects to the standards and specification of Network Rail, ensuring compliance with appropriate Railway Group and Network Rail Company standards.
  2. Manage all engineering activities to ensure affordability and compliance with programme requirements for time, cost, and quality.
  3. Maintain the use of relevant techniques for risk assessment and manage environmental aspects of allocated projects in accordance with Network Rail's environmental policy.
  4. Monitor design and specialist consultants and contractors.
  5. Provide project management advice for all construction activities, including testing and commissioning.
  6. Ensure internal and contractor personnel are competent.
  7. Carry out the duties of designated project engineer (DPE) for specific projects.
  8. Identify and share best practices across various project teams.
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential
  1. Relevant experience in engineering disciplines, ideally with involvement in construction and design projects.
  2. Knowledge of quality assurance.
  3. CDM, risk assessment, engineering management competency.
  4. Knowledge of structuring safety cases in support of projects.
  5. An appreciation of environmental issues in engineering works.
