Role Overview

This role is a great opportunity to join Travelers Europe as a Senior Underwriter in our Corporate team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing renewal business opportunities and developing prospects, leading the technical underwriting of these risks and helping to deliver Travelers' bespoke customer proposition.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the local insurance marketplace and an ability to learn about the enterprise and business unit critical business issues and financial drivers. You will work closely with colleagues in other parts of the organisation, including Head Office, Risk Control, Distribution, Claims, Actuarial, etc.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and assess risk to maximise business growth and profitability for allocated book of business.
  • On pre-agreed accounts, actively participate and support Development and Renewal Underwriters in new business, renewal and mid-term alteration underwriting activities that support underwriting decisions, consistent with business growth and profit.
  • Provide leadership and coaching, as appropriate, for Associate Underwriter to help with their development and ensure that their roles and responsibilities are delivered.
  • Accountable for accurate underwriting documentation/information in account management systems and adherence to documentation standards.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues in other parts of the organisation, including Head Office, Risk Control, Distribution, Claims, Actuarial, etc.
  • Actively engage and seek out training opportunities to further develop underwriting and sales expertise.
  • Working with Distribution, effectively assist in the development, documentation and execution of sales plans with emphasis on increasing marketing and sales activities outside the office. Work tactically with brokers to ensure they have an appropriate level of understanding of TICL goals and objectives.
  • Work effectively as a productive and supportive team member in conjunction with more senior team members, supporting business unit and company objectives.
  • £55,000 - £65,000 per annum, dependent on experience, plus benefits and bonus scheme.
