Job Title: Solicitor

We are seeking a qualified Solicitor to join our team at Orilion Ltd. The ideal candidate will have experience in criminal law and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Covering court attendances in various locations, including West London, Thames Valley, and South Oxon.
  • Managing case files in accordance with Quality Assurance Standards.
  • Providing advice and assistance to clients at police stations, by telephone, and in person.
  • Attending upon clients at court, the office, in custody, or elsewhere to obtain their instructions and provide advice and assistance.
  • Communicating with clients and other parties by email, letter, telephone, and in person.
  • Arranging for attendances upon and assisting Counsel, clients, and witnesses at court hearings and case conferences.
  • Participating in Duty Solicitor Schemes and providing advice and assistance in accordance with the Duty Solicitor arrangements.
  • Preparing for all hearings, pleas, and trials, and ensuring that all listings are dealt with promptly and accurately.
  • Ensuring that proofs of evidence, observations on evidence, and witness statements are taken and prepared promptly.
  • Delegating and supervising work undertaken by support staff.
  • Advising on appeals, obtaining Counsel's advice on appeals, and lodging appeals as necessary.
  • Carrying out advocacy in the Magistrates Court and as appropriate in the Crown Court.
Requirements:
  • Degree or recognised diploma in Law.
  • Pass or above of the Legal Practice Course or Law Society Finals.
  • Valid current Law Society Practising Certificate.
  • Eligibility or membership of local Court and Police Station Duty Solicitors Schemes.
  • Excellent advocacy, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work to set deadlines.
  • Ability to decide and act upon priorities of work and function effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to get on with people and motivate others.
  • File management skills.
  • Financial management.
