Tax Director

We are seeking an experienced Head of Tax to join our team at Together. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for overseeing all tax-related matters within the Group.
In this role, you will be involved in maintaining and managing the Group's tax policies, procedures, documentation, and running tax-related initiatives. You will also be responsible for escalating and resolving any tax compliance deficiencies or incidents.
- Manage and coordinate all aspects of outsourced corporation tax compliance, including preparation of supporting information and review of tax returns.
- Manage VAT compliance activities, including preparation and submission of VAT returns, ensuring accuracy and timely filing.
- Assist in the process of identifying and assessing R&D tax relief opportunities, working closely with external advisors and relevant departments.
- Conduct tax planning and horizon scanning to anticipate and minimize tax liabilities and optimize the company's overall tax position.
- Stay abreast of changes in tax legislation and regulations, assessing their impact on the organization and implementing necessary adjustments to ensure compliance.
- Provide expert tax advice and guidance to internal stakeholders, including finance, legal, treasury, and senior management teams.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly tax provisions for financial reporting purposes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) and/or tax certification (CTA) preferred.
- Proven experience working in a tax role within a financial services or similar regulated industry, with a strong understanding of UK tax laws and regulations.
- Demonstrated expertise in corporation tax, VAT, and R&D tax relief, including practical experience in preparing and reviewing tax returns and claims.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex tax legislation and provide practical solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency in tax software and MS Office suite, particularly Excel.
