Railway Systems Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Railway Systems Technician to join our team in Southampton. As a key member of the Engineering team, you will be responsible for undertaking train maintenance of the depot Rolling Stock and conducting associated activities that support the operation of the fleet and depot in a safe manner.

Main Responsibilities

  • Undertaking mechanical and electrical duties to upgrade the WIFI of the depot's rolling stock assets.
  • Completing repairs and upgrades (WIFI) with the support of the Engineering team.
  • Conducting post upgrade testing and advanced fault finding and diagnostic activities.
  • Performing any other duties as and when required within the scope of the modification work.
  • Conducting installation fault finding to an intermediate level T3.
  • Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, and software logic diagrams.
  • Identifying and collecting materials from stores as required.
  • Maintaining awareness of safety at work and identifying potential hazards to remove or minimize them.
  • Working under specified engineering instructions and drawings, following the methods and tooling specified within them.
  • Raising any issues with tasks to be conducted, particularly those related to safety and quality, to the on-site Supervisor/Production Manager.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in electrical engineering environments.
  • Accurate completion of records of actions and operations to procedures.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety including bio-hazards, manual handling and COSHH.
  • Diagnostic purposes using laptops.
  • Understanding and interpreting technical publications.
  • Testing and fault finding experience.
  • Fully reading and understanding complex electric circuit diagrams.
  • Producing technical reports.
  • HNC or equivalent experience in electrical engineering environments.
  • Care for tools, equipment, and PPE.
  • Understand and interpret relevant technical publications.
  • Laptop diagnostic fault finding and rectification purposes.

Salary: £26.89 per hour (Umbrella)
