Job Description:

An experienced Finance / Accounts Assistant is required to join a reputable accountancy firm in the Barnet area of North London.

Annual Salary:£27,500

About the Role:

This position involves assisting in the preparation of financial documents and reports, including ledgers, invoices, and balance sheets.

The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of accountancy principles and practices, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data entry and calculations.

Familiarity with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in preparing financial documents and reports, including ledgers, invoices, and balance sheets.
  2. Support with processing invoices, receipts, and payments, ensuring accurate and timely entries.
  3. Assist with reconciliations, including bank reconciliations and supplier statement reconciliations.
  4. Maintain accurate financial records and update databases as needed.
  5. Help prepare financial statements and reports under the guidance of senior accountants.
  6. Communicate with clients to address basic inquiries regarding billing or payments.
  7. Work closely with team members to support audits and end-of-year financial processes.
Requirements:
  1. Education & Experience: Minimum of 12 months commercial experience in a finance-related role or a degree in Accounting and Finance.
  2. Skills & Knowledge:
    • Basic understanding of accountancy principles and practices.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data entry, calculations, and basic analysis.
    • Familiarity with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks is advantageous but not essential.
  3. Attributes:
    • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
    • Able to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, both in writing and verbally.
    • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
