We are seeking an Educational Support Assistant for a specialized educational institution in North London, dedicated to supporting students with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). In this role, you will provide assistance to secondary school learners aged 11-19 who require additional support beyond what is typically available in mainstream educational settings. This institution is conveniently accessible from various locations in London, featuring excellent transport connections. As an Educational Support Assistant, you will join a highly collaborative team with outstanding leadership and exceptional resources. A willingness to assist with personal care is preferred.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting and working with students diagnosed with ASD.
  • Delivering academic assistance, either individually or in small groups.
  • Fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment while providing emotional support as necessary.
  • Implementing effective behavior management strategies, which may involve physical interventions, to ensure a safe learning atmosphere.
  • Utilizing positive reinforcement techniques to promote focus and self-regulation.
  • Assisting educators with alternative instructional methods, such as Lego therapy to enhance collaborative and communication skills, or intensive interaction sessions to develop attention and engagement skills.
  • Being knowledgeable about safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

To qualify for the role of Educational Support Assistant, you will need:
  • The legal right to work in the UK.
  • A clear and current DBS check.
  • Experience in a teaching capacity within a UK educational institution.
  • A patient demeanor and a proactive attitude.
