Charity Operations Director

As the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at North Herts and Stevenage CVS, you will play a pivotal role in driving the charity's operational excellence and strategic direction. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead and develop a dedicated team, ensuring they have the necessary tools, training, and support to excel in their roles.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize the charity's day-to-day activities, focusing on process design, system implementation, and policy development.
- Lead the development and management of the charity's budget, financial resources, and risk management framework, working closely with the CEO and Finance Manager.
- Oversee all aspects of office and admin management, including security, maintenance, and housekeeping, ensuring a smooth and efficient operational environment.
- Represent the charity at external events, conferences, and meetings, advocating for its mission and expanding its network.
- Line-manage, develop, and empower a team of full-time and part-time staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Develop and maintain contingency plans to ensure the charity's resilience in the face of challenges or disruptions.
- Formulate and oversee the delivery of an annual learning and development plan, managing the budget and ensuring a broad range of blended learning and development opportunities.
- Build effective evaluation tools to assess the impact of learning investments, ensuring that evaluations measure the wider business impact and quality of learning.
- Strong experience in managing change and supporting staff and volunteers through periods of organisational growth or transition.
- Ability to work collaboratively, building and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Outstanding organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey information to a variety of audiences.
- Passionate about the voluntary and community sector, with a deep commitment to improving lives and strengthening communities.
- Empathy and understanding of the diverse communities served by North Herts and Stevenage CVS, with a strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
