Automated Machinery Assembler Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Machinery Assembly Technician to join our team at White Recruitment Construction. This role involves the assembly and construction of special purpose automation machinery and workstations.

The ideal candidate will have recent experience in a machinery assembly role and be apprentice trained in mechanical engineering or tool making. A background in assembly technician, R&D Engineer, or machine tool fitter would be beneficial.

This role requires strong technical skills, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. The successful applicant must live in Birmingham and have the ability to commute easily. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Assemble and build machines according to written specifications, CAD drawings, build manual, and supplied kits.
  2. Collaborate with Project Leaders and Designers to review designs.
  3. Manufacture machine supports and guard frames.
  4. Fabricate and machine items such as brackets or tooling using a lathe.
  5. Construct pneumatic assemblies.
  6. Run up and commission machines, ensuring they operate correctly.
  7. Demonstrate machines to customers.
  8. Provide feedback on modifications made during the build and machine commissioning phase.
  9. Assist in resolving mechanical issues.
Essential Requirements:
  • Apprentice trained mechanical engineer; assembly technician, mechanical fitter, toolmaker, mechanical assembler, tooling engineer.
  • Likely to have worked for a similar company e.g. packaging machinery, machine tools, food processing machinery, materials handling, conveyors, special purpose machines, CNC machines building etc.
  • City & Guilds level 3 or HNC/HND level.
  • Possess machining skills (lathe, milling machine, grinding machine).
  • Experience in marking up, drilling, tapping, machining, measuring, cutting, and assembling.
Remuneration Package:
  • A competitive salary: £31,000 - £41,000 per annum, based on experience.
