About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Swansea Bay University Health Board. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and expertise in the management of patients with serious mental illnesses in our male high dependency rehabilitation/recovery unit and community rehabilitation unit.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in psychiatry, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. They will also have a commitment to continuous improvement and a positive attitude towards learning and development.

The role will involve working closely with our multidisciplinary team, including occupational therapists and psychologists, to provide comprehensive care to patients. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in clinical development and leadership activities, including the development of new services and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and expertise in the management of patients with serious mental illnesses
  • Work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients
  • Participate in clinical development and leadership activities, including the development of new services and initiatives
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to patient care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of new services and initiatives
Requirements
  • Registered with the GMC and licensed to practice
  • On Specialist Register with GMC as a specialist in psychiatry or eligible for CCT within 6 months of date of interview
  • Experience of working in a similar role and setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and a positive attitude towards learning and development
