Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at Populus Select Ltd. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our industrial processes and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation and Maintenance: Install and maintain electrical, electronic, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and data installations, systems, equipment, and components.
  • Fault Finding and Repair: Fault find, diagnose, and repair electrical and mechanical installation systems, equipment, and components.
  • Pellet Manufacturing: Manufacture pellets for Applications & R&D Projects, from Proof-of-Concept testing and preparation, through to final product optimisation testing at scale.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate all Lab Scale & Pilot Scale production equipment, including Pre-treatment equipment, such as milling devices and drying/curing technologies.
  • Process Improvement: Learn new and additional skills to expedite the production and testing of agglomerated pellets.
  • Inventory Management: Ensure key equipment, spares, and chemicals are available and maintained.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Support the Technology Leadership Group (TLG) alongside external/customer site trials where appropriate, and provide clear communication of observations and learnings to allow the tracking of IP during the development process.
  • Materials Management: Support the handling and organisation of Raw Materials and Binders to ensure materials are managed in a secure manner.
  • Additional Duties: Undertake any other duties reasonably requested to support process operations.
  • Health and Safety: Always demonstrate the highest personal health and safety standards.
Equipment Operation
  • Gas Rotary Mini Curing Dryer: Operate a 1tph capacity gas rotary mini curing dryer.
  • Ball Mill: Operate a 1-2tph plant capacity ball mill iron ore grinding mini plant.
  • Pilot Plant: Operate a pilot plant, including feeding conveyors, motors, gearboxes, mixers, HMI software systems, and PLC cabinets.
  • Mini Roller Presses: Operate mini roller presses.
  • Mini Mixers: Operate mini mixers.
  • Testing Machinery: Operate various testing machinery, computerised and automated.
  • Compressed Air Systems: Operate compressed air systems.
  • Gas Burners and RIG's: Operate various gas burners and RIG's system for hot testing developments.
  • Extractor Fan Systems: Operate ATEX-approved extractor fan systems.
  • Planned Shutdowns and Ad Hoc Work: Participate in planned shutdowns and ad hoc work equipment.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualifications: Hold a HNC/HND level qualification.
  • Experience: Possess 5-10 years of hands-on maintenance experience.
  • Welding and Plant Engineering: Have experience in welding and plant engineering maintenance.
  • Industrial Processing/Operations: Have experience in industrial processing/operations.
  • Industry Exposure: Have exposure to a wider range of industries.
  • Innovative Problem-Solving: Be innovative and able to question and research a solution to a problem.
  • Communication Skills: Be able to effectively communicate with people at all levels within the company.
  • Initiative and Accuracy: Be able to work under their own initiative and possess a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
