Job Title: Engineering Maintenance Fitter

We are seeking a skilled Engineering Maintenance Fitter to join our team at Major Recruitment Oldbury. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our waste treatment plant near Knaresborough.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failures and downtime.
  • Rectify problems on mechanical assets, including conveyor belts, pumps, gearboxes, valves, and cranes.
  • Perform fabrication work and general workshop duties to support the maintenance team.
  • Assist with and actively participate in planned outages to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
  • Operate workshop machinery, fabrication, and refurbishment to maintain equipment and tools.
  • Communicate effectively with the maintenance team and other stakeholders to ensure prompt resolution of issues.
  • Contribute to the delivery of maintenance team KPIs and ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Requirements:
  • Time-served mechanical fitter with a strong background in maintenance engineering.
  • Proven knowledge and experience working on mechanical systems, including conveyor belts, valves, gearboxes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and fabrication.
  • Ability to read and work from mechanical drawings and documents.
  • Experience with safe systems of work, including permit to work, method statements, and risk assessments.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
