Job Overview

Govia Thameslink Railway is offering an exciting opportunity for a four-year engineering apprenticeship, allowing you to gain hands-on experience and earn a real salary while learning on the job.

This role involves learning a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and electronic skills, including fault-finding, testing, maintenance, and repair. You will be supported by college study to ensure that your theoretical knowledge complements your practical experience.

Salary Details

We offer a competitive salary for this apprenticeship, which takes into account the location and industry standards. Based on national averages, we estimate the annual salary to be around £20,000-£25,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  • You will join a group of apprentices starting at the same time and work closely with your dedicated apprenticeship manager and the rest of the engineering team.
  • To be eligible for this role, you should have a strong commitment to learning and a willingness to take on new challenges. We do not require any prior knowledge or experience of engineering or the railway industry.
  • You must hold or expect to get grade 4 or above in GCSE Maths, English, and Science (or equivalent).
  • You will need to travel to East Surrey College for study and to various locations on our network for work.
  • Passing the required medical standards is also a requirement for this role.
