About the Job

Leicestershire County Council is seeking an Education Intervention Specialist to work with children and young people who are experiencing challenges in accessing education.

This role involves providing a package of support to increase children and young people's access to education, working directly with them, their families and professionals in various settings. The successful candidate will be part of the Inclusion Service team covering the whole county and will be based primarily in the West region, requiring travel across the county.

The ideal candidate will have experience engaging with children, young people and their families who are at risk of missing out on educational opportunities. They should possess good organisational skills, listening and communication skills both orally and in writing, as well as an ability to relate to parents/carers under stress.

The salary for this position is estimated to be around £27,717 - £30,066 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. This is a rewarding job that delivers interventions with children and young people, supporting them to re-engage in education, employment and training, empowering them for their future.

About You

  • A relevant level 3 qualification is required.
  • Experience of working with children and young people who are at risk of missing out on educational opportunities is essential.
  • Good organisational skills, including the ability to work to deadlines, are necessary.
  • An understanding of child development and differing needs of children and young people is also required.
  • The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the education system, reasonable adjustments, specialist provision and the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
  • A flexible approach to working, including out-of-hours, and an ability and willingness to travel to various locations are necessary.
