Radiologist Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Radiologist to join our team at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The successful candidate will have a special interest in interventional radiology and will be based in Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

The post holder will be part of an enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team supporting existing IR services for the North Wales region. They will contribute to delivering specialist interventional services, including the development of interventional oncology services, and will also contribute to work in the vascular hybrid suite in Glan Clwyd Hospital.

The successful candidate will join a friendly and enthusiastic team of eleven other consultant radiologists in this hospital and will have opportunities to develop research links and/or teaching links with the University of Wales, Bangor.

Main Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for a 10-session job plan, including sessions for on-call duties. There may be opportunities to do further sessions, and the post holder will have access to 2 SPA sessions, one of which can be undertaken off-site. On-call duties will be shared with other radiologists, and on-call tele-radiology will be available via home workstations.

The post holder will also contribute to the wider workload of the department, including general radiology, on-call rotas, and teaching of radiology trainees, undergraduate students, and other hospital staff. They will be expected to participate in departmental management meetings and to contribute to the development of interventional oncology services.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

• Full GMC Registration
• On specialist Register for specialty or Specialist Registrar with CCST due within 6 months of interview date
• FRCR or equivalent
• Training and experience in interventional radiology
• To be within 6 months of completing IR RCR curriculum or equivalent
• Experience in cross-sectional imaging
