We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Oncology Specialist to provide high-quality care to patients with cancer. The successful candidate will join our team of medical and clinical oncologists at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, working alongside experienced professionals to deliver exceptional patient care.

The post holder will be responsible for providing a high standard of care to patients with a range of tumour types, including attending consultant-led out-patient clinics, supervising junior doctors and ward patients, and reviewing patients for chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The successful candidate will also participate in clinical governance and audit activities, contributing to the development of clinical trials and research initiatives.

The Trust provides a range of services to approximately 460,000 people in West Kent and North East Sussex, and the successful candidate will work closely with other medical, professional, and managerial colleagues to provide high-quality healthcare to the Trust's patients.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and experienced Medical Oncology Specialist, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities to deliver high-quality patient care.

The post holder will be expected to work closely with the Clinical Directors of the Kent Oncology Centre, Dr. Kannon Nathan and Dr. Timothy Sevitt, and the Director of Operations for the Division, Alice Farrell, to ensure seamless delivery of services and high-quality patient care.

The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety, and quality improvement, and will be able to demonstrate their skills and experience in a variety of settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Attending Consultant-led out-patient clinics and undertaking related admin and chemotherapy prescribing.
  2. Supervision of SHOs and ward patients.
  3. Review of patients attending for chemotherapy and radiotherapy if required by nursing or radiography staff.
  4. Teaching of SHOs and medical students.
  5. Involvement in clinical governance and audit activities.
