Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Special Education Programme Coordinator to join our team at Ark Victoria Academy. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to lead and coordinate special educational needs provision across the academy.

About the Role

  • To develop, implement, and monitor effective alternative curriculum programmes for students with SEND.
  • To lead and manage interventions, including mentoring, academic catch-up, and social skills groups, to support students' learning and well-being.
  • To identify students who require additional support and ensure they receive tailored interventions.
  • To collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies to ensure seamless transitions and support for students.
  • To collect, analyse, and interpret data on student progress and adjust strategies accordingly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) for students with SEND.
  • Collaborating with teachers to adapt lesson plans and resources to meet students' diverse needs.
  • Providing training and support for teachers on inclusive practice and differentiated instruction.
  • Maintaining accurate records of student progress, including assessments, observations, and parental feedback.
  • Participating in regular meetings with parents, carers, and other professionals to discuss student progress and set targets.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in special education, psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in special education, preferably in a secondary school setting.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful intervention programmes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with students, staff, and external partners.
  • Knowledge of SEN legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and inform instructional decisions.
